WSU's 2009 Spring Commencement took place on Saturday, May 9th. The keynote speakers were as follows:

Bob Watt - 8am
Vice chair and chair-elect of the Seattle Foundation board, chair of the White Center Making Connections Partners Group, and vice chair of Thrive by Five

Theodor P. Baseler - 11:30am
President and chief executive officer of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates, one of the 10 largest wine companies in the United States

Gary Steele - 3pm
Chief executive officer of Proofpoint Inc., a California-based company that provides e-mail security and data loss prevention

They will be honored with the 2009 Edward R. Murrow Lifetime Achievement Award in Journalism and in Broadcast Journalism, respectively. More.

The Edward R. Murrow College of Communication, in partnership with the McCormick Foundation, presents the Virtual Journalism Summit on April 6 on the Pullman campus of Washington State University.

This day-long free event examines the growing popularity and influence of virtual worlds, where there are many real stories unfolding within the "metaverse" and its newly-created 3D spaces. Key technology executives and newsmakers will be on hand to offer insight, tips, and tools for media production in the virtual world.
